Welcome to the Digital Pathway Blog

Welcome to the Digital Pathway Blog. The latest blogging effort by Gavin Stewart.

I have been away from blogging for awhile now so I thought that it might be time to get back into the habit of making regular posts. Likewise, I have missed having a regular place on the web on which to post book reviews, conference reports and interesting links. However, rather than return to the past and the nmrg group blog I thought it was time to go it alone and to set up a new blog dedicated to my new teaching role at the University of Bedfordshire, UK.

I am currently a post-doctorate research fellow with the Research Institute for Media, Art and Design at the U of Beds, however come 1st August 2009, I will be a fully-fledged Lecturer in New Media. This is an exciting development, which means I will be doing a lot more undergraduate teaching, mainly on the New Media pathway. This change, therefore, marks a significant change for my career, as to date I have been involved mainly with research, practice and with delivering smaller sections of the MA in Mass Media. I am very keen to be as reflective as possible about this new role as I believe that it will make me a better teacher in the long run. So expect lots of posts about my thoughts about course development, my research reading and my various experiences in delivering 'Digital Cultures', 'New Media Production' and 'Future Media'. Likewise, expect lots of posts about my research, and my various attempts to bring all these themes together as I try to put into practice my thoughts about APRIL (that is 'Applicable Practice- Research-Informed Learning').

All told it should make a very good subject for a blog. I look forward to reading your comments!
